New Albany Middle School has a weekly column that is printed in both local newspapers, The New Albany Gazette and The New Albany News-Exchange. Each year, eighth grade students interested in becoming the NAMS Newspaper Reporter submit typed sample news columns to the eighth grade English teacher. The student selected must possess effective communication and writing skills, while also demonstrating responsibility in gathering news items and meeting publishing demands and deadlines. The weekly column focuses on school events, student achievement, and innovative teaching techniques.
